From our point of view its very exciting. A great start but requires a number of work around to make it viable in production. For certain types of projects it could definitely expand and merge the lines between 3D and Comp, like for idents or product animation. A good example is where I needed a 3D logo at the end of a 2D animation, so I’m thinking this would be a perfect use of Element. I had to build the Geometry in Maya as the deformations required were not possible to build in element, fair enough. But because of normals, ngons, scaling issues etc by the time I got Element ready to render my exported obj’s from Maya it would have been quicker to just render with Mental ray. I have also found issues with standards of scale, obj’s position and scale is dependant on its bounding box, making it very hard to create a consistency between MAYA and AE. Like I say love what this plugin is doing but I know it could be an absolute game changer with a few technical amends. What’s your feelings so far with it?
